This December Interhaptics and Innoactive are announcing a partnership that will bring haptic design and hand-tracking interactions into Innoactive’s Creator. The collaboration will focus on haptics for virtual training.
Haptics for virtual training is gaining momentum in the industrial sector. Indeed, an ever-increasing segment of industrial players is implementing virtual reality training programs within their organizations. Haptics and hand tracking interactions can bring a lot of value to virtual training users through increased accessibility and learning reinforcement. This is even more relevant with the widespread adoption of the Oculus Quest 2, natively equipped with hand-tracking capabilities.
For this reason, Innoactive and Interhaptics decided to partner to allow all the Creator users to easily implement haptics feedback design and hand interactions within their training project while maintaining compatibility with all the controllers currently on the market.
The partnership will allow Interhaptics’ advanced haptics company partners, to be natively supported within the Innoactive Creator, and to all their users to access an ever-increasing group of advanced hand tracking and haptics devices to enrich their training content.
The Interhaptics and Innoactive Partnership
Interhaptics is a software company specializing in Haptics for virtual training and other sectors. Interhaptics provides hand interactions and Haptics feedback development, and deployment tools for extended reality and mobile applications. The mission of Interhaptics is to enable the growth of a scalable haptics ecosystem. Interhaptics strives to deliver top-notch development tools for the XR, mobile, and consoles developer community, and the interoperability of haptics enabled content across any haptics enabled platform.
“We’re seeing VR training become more realistic. Our customers ask us about creating engaging training scenarios that have precise hand interactions. By partnering with Interhaptics can now easily integrate extra features into the VR training applications they build with the Innoactive Creator.“ Graham Breen, Business Development and Partnerships Lead
Innoactive is the leading European VR software company that helps enterprises to transform employee training with VR as well as standardize and scale the creation of real-time VR learning experiences. The Volkswagen Group, Linde, Lufthansa, BSH (Bosch Siemens Hausgeraete), Fraport, and AeroGround are some of the visionary customers trusting Innoactive.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Innoactive and integrate their Creator. Innoactive is among the leaders of virtual professional training design, and the implementation of hands interaction and Haptics will create a terrific value for virtual professional training users.” Eric Vezzoli, Haptics Architect at Interhaptics
Why haptics for virtual training?
VR training has gained popularity in the past years, however today it has become an essential form of training for most of the industrial sector. Innoactive has played a great part in providing a platform and tools to ease the production of VR scenarios. The company created the Innoactive Creator which is essentially a visual designer for VR training applications where users can design a project’s workflow.
In early 2020 with the hype of hand tracking in VR applications and with the increased need of using a hand-tracking system, Interhaptics launched its tools. They support Ultraleap’s Leap Motion, HTC VIVE, Oculus Quest, and Hololens 2 hand tracking systems.
Interhaptics applications, the Interaction builder and the Haptic Composer, will be integrated within Innoactive Creator. Through this integration, users will be able to implement interactions through hand tracking or controllers. Moreover, they will implement haptics via controllers and eventually 3rd party haptic devices, such as SenseGlove exoskeleton, in addition to agnostic support for unity builds and VR projects.
What you need to know about haptics in the Creator
How can we use the haptics for virtual training and hand tracking in the Creator?
Adding the Interhaptics integration allows you to use predefined hand interaction and add them to your VR training application with one click in our graphical user interface. You can use Interhaptics Interaction Builder and Haptic Composer to build your own interactions, add them to the Creator once, and use them seamlessly in the Creator UI as well.
How does that change for existing projects made with the Creator?
Not at all, it’s totally optional. You can also add the integration to existing projects and directly enjoy your VR application with hand interaction or haptics for virtual training.
